Maker City: A practical guide to reinventing our cities
The Maker City Playbook was made possible by the generous financial support of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation with fiscal sponsorship provided through the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts. Stephanie Santoso, formerly Senior Advisor for Making to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), Executive Office of the President, was invaluable in providing introductions to people who make up the Maker City ecosystem. Stephanie has moved on to a new position in California and recently got married; in the face of the significant changes in her life, we cannot thank her enough for remaining with us to the very end of this project.
The inspiration for the Maker City Playbook came very much from the Remake Learning Playbook produced by the Sprout Fund under the leadership of Cathy Lewis Long, President.
Interviews
In all we did about 50 interviews with thought leaders, practitioners, movers and shakers across ~20 cities. These people donated their time, thoughts, and energies to helping us understand what made their Maker City tick. We cannot thank them enough.
