We are excited to have worked with the Nation of Makers to pull together this program, which provides microgrants of $500-1000 to Maker advocates.
The objective of the program – which is supported by funding NOM received from Cognizant – is to encourage local Maker advocates to pull together the people and organizations that make up the local ecosystem around Making into a Town Hall. The overarching goal is to help communities focus on what they need to do to leverage the Maker movement to solve community problems, including and most importantly, getting people ready for the future of work which is digital and includes working side-by-side with robots and other forms of automation.
You can read more about the grant process here. Click the big orange button at the top of the page should you want to apply. Note that grants are only open to non-profit organizations that can field a Town Hall before March 16, 2018. Funding decisions will be announced during the National Week of Making which this year happens June 16-22, 2017.
As part of our work with the Nation of Makers, we put together a Short Guide to Creating a High Impact Town Hall, a microsite designed to be of use to Maker advocates in their community organizing work.
